I WANT YOU/SHE’S SO HEAVY, Project for Empty Space, Newark, NJ, 2016
For this ongoing work Brace cast an inverted triangle form from ready-made packaging material that weighed approximately her body weight. In this iteration she then carried the form around Newark Penn Station, singing the Beatles’ song, “I Want You”. Brace carried the inverted triangle form until it was place on top of a custom built stair-pedestal that was co-built with Stacey Kemp. This inverted pyramid form symbolizes a void, or absence and the symbolic structure has been repeated in Brace’s work Stage, and Hologram 2.
This project is ongoing and Brace is currently looking for future commissioned performance opportunities.
